Who We Are

  Started in 2013, 'Homemade By Ma' is a collection of crocheted clothing and crafts by Karen Amill.

  Born in Bismarck, ND, Karen Amill was taught by her grandmother at a young age to crochet, knit and weave but her passion lies with crochet and weaving.
  She worked at the famed American Thread Company in Willimantic, CT from 1971 until its closing in 1982, with another year spent in the "Thread Shed" - the company store - where she acquired a treasure trove of yarn. In the years following, she used her stockpile of yarns to make blankets and clothing for friends and family alike.

  Karen became well-known for her crocheted crafts with requests for special items coming in regularly. It soon became apparent that her favorite hobby could become something more.
